Members of Muse played in separate school band during their stay at Teignmouth Community College in the early 1990s, but the formation of Muse began when Bellamy successfully auditioned for the part of guitarist in Dominic Howard's band. They asked Chris Wolstenholme - who played drums at that time - to learn to play bass guitar for the band, Wolstenholme agree and take the lesson, while Bellamy should be a singer and songwriter for the band [9] [10] Others. Gothic Plague original member left after Bellamy stated that they write their own songs rather than perform covers.
The first band name Bellamy and Howard is Gothic Plague. After the Gothic Plague came to pass remains, and after that, Rocket Baby Dolls [11] In 1994. The band used the name Rocket Baby Dolls [12] with the image / goth glam to compete in a local battle of the bands. The band won the contest, destroy their equipment in the process. [13] [14] "It should be a protest, the statement," Bellamy said, "so, when we actually won, it was a real surprise, big surprise. After that, we started taking ourselves seriously." Shortly after the contest, the three decided to forget about the university, quit their jobs, change the name of the band for Muse (1994-1995), and move away from Teignmouth [15] The name "Muse" is. Inspired by the art teacher Matthew Bellamy. The art teacher Samuel Theoun mentioned the word "Muses". Bellamy then look in the dictionary and decided to shorten it to "Muse." It is also used for short-and members felt looked good on the poster. [16]

[13] Their second EP, Muscle Museum EP, reached number 3 in the indie singles chart and draw the attention of British radio broadcaster Steve Lamacq and NME music weekly UK [18] Dennis Smith introduced. band to RAHMAT Jaffery with whom he had just started a recording label Taste Media. Muse signed with Smith and Jaffery and recorded three of their first album, Showbiz, Origin of Symmetry and Absolution, with Taste Media. [18]
Despite the success of their second EP, British record companies were reluctant to sign the Muse. It happened after a trip to New York's CMJ festival that American record label flying them to Los Angeles to display. Nanci Walker, and Sr. Director of A & R at Columbia Records, Muse flew to the U.S. to show for the then-Senior Columbia Records' Vice President of A & R, Tim Devine, as well as to Rick Rubin's American Recording. During production of the band's second album, Origin of Symmetry, the band experimented with instrumentation such as the church organ, Mellotron, and expanded drum kit. There are more than Bellamy's high pitched vocal lines, arpeggiated guitar, and playing piano. Bellamy cited the influence of the guitar like Jimi Hendrix and Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave), who [obviously in the more riff-based songs on Origin of symmetry and is widely used Bellamy's pitch-shifting effects in his solos. ". [24]
Maverick had reservations about Bellamy's vocal style on this album (remember not to be "radio friendly") and asked Muse to change some of their songs before the release of U.S.. The band refused and left the Maverick, so the decision does not release Maverick "Origin of Symmetry" in the United States. [25] The album was finally released in the United States in September 2005, after Muse signed to Warner Bros. [26]
